explanation

1. A very interesting rhyme that starts the song in a slow tempo

2. there is a source of great imagery in this line that clearly paints the picture of what is bothering the artist

3. A line that gives you an eerie feeling like with a sunset comes an omen or bad luck.

King’s Crossing lyrics

“King’s Crossing”

By: Elliot Smith

The king’s crossing was the main attraction
Dominoes falling in a chain reaction
A scraping subject ruled by fear
Told me whiskey works better than beer
The judge is on vinyl, decisions are final
And nobody gets a reprieve
And every wave is tidal – if you hang around
You’re going to get wet
I can’t prepare for death any more than I already have
All you can do now is watch the shells
The game looks easy, that’s why it sells
Frustrated fireworks inside your head
Are going to stand and deliver talk instead
The method acting that pays my bills
Keeps a fat man feeding in Beverly Hills
I got a heavy metal mouth that hurls obscenity
And I get my check from the trash treasury
Because I took my own insides out
It don’t matter ‘cos I have no sex life
And all I want to do now is inject my ex-wife
I’ve seen the movie and I know what happens
It’s Christmas time, and the needles on the tree
A skinny Santa is bringing something to me
His voice is overwhelming, but his speech is slurred
And I only understand every other word
Open your parachute and grab your gun
Falling down like an omen, a setting sun
Read the part and return at five
It’s a hell of a role if you can keep it alive
But I don’t care if I fuck up
I’m going on a date with a rich white lady
Ain’t life great?
Give me one good reason not to do it
(Because I love you)
So do it
This is the place where time reverses
Dead men talk to all the pretty nurses
Instruments shine on a silver tray
Don’t let me get carried away
Don’t let me get carried away
Don’t let me be carried away

Kehinde Wiley

Kehinde Wiley combines different art styles in order to show the common black man in a position of power. For many centuries paintings of people have mostly consisted of white males mostly and pictures of blacks were not common. This artist crosses racial borders and strives to display a scene thats not so common, art that shows the Black community as a triumphant race.

His work is a new direction compared to the traditional white males that were typically painted back in the day.

Banksy

Banksy is a grafitti artist that is popular for his meaningful pictures. His art displays contradictions in political events and things such as peace. His pictures point out injustice and I agree with the points presented. It seems like everyone has a hidden agenda and thats what the picture of the dove and crosshairs is about.

Graffitti is a form of art however most of the time people dont do it to their own property which is were the conflict arises. I think there are two types of grafitti the first is a show of artistic views while the other is somebody bored with a spray can and deciding to just write a name.

Many people see tagging a building is not art it is destruction of property that has to be removed by workers, so in the end it may look cool but its resulting in someone having to take care of it. Writers and artists use pen names because if their work raises a fuss then they wont be in the hot seat.

Displaying your art in public is fine but if it costs other people money to clean up a building you tagged then thats irresponsible art. The bottom line is grafitti is art building tagging is not.

A picture

I choose this picture because it displays what inspires and motivates me to work hard. Someday I wish to play classical music as he does. Until that day I will use his hard work as a way to fuel my determination in things other than guitar. I choose this picture mostly as a symbol of my interest, guitar, and because Paco is a great person I could really look up to. There really is no artistic reason why I chose this photo over the others except I wanted all the focus to be on him.
